About the Position:

Baker & Provan is seeking an experienced Safety Officer / Safety Manager to join our team on a part‑time basis. With safety, compliance, and worker wellbeing at the forefront, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) management system, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and industry standards. You will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation, helping to safeguard our employees, worksites, and business operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and relevant WHS standards.




- Ensure safety systems and practices comply with the NSW Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and SafeWork NSW requirements.
- Participate in the review, development, and continuous improvement of safety policies, systems, and processes.
- Assist in promoting a positive safety culture and protected work behaviours across the organisation.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits as required.
- Manage first aid and medical treatment incidents, including incident investigations and follow‑up actions.
- Coordinate and manage Return‑to‑Work programs and associated workers compensation claims.
- Promote effective consultation with workers and stakeholders.
- Lead and support safety initiatives in collaboration with management.
- Coordinate, monitor, and review emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor changes to WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and standards, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Acquire and communicate relevant WHS information, industry updates, and safety alerts.
- Monitor and report safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain safety records and databases, including Skytrust.
- Monitor, investigate, and close out safety incidents, hazards, corrective actions, and non‑conformances.
- Administer SafeWork NSW online services and maintain Health and Safety Representative (HSR) records.
- Implement and maintain safety‑related registers, including equipment and inspection registers.
- Deliver company safety inductions to employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordinate safety training programs and maintain training records.
- Undertake any other safety‑related duties as directed by management.
