The President’s Office supports the Commission’s President in leading the Commission and coordinating the work of the 7 Commissioners (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice, Age, Race, Sex, Disability, Children and Human Rights). The Office supports the President to promote understanding, acceptance and public discussion of human rights and to make submissions to government and parliamentary inquiries on human rights issues. The Office supports the Commission’s engagement with government, parliament, civil society, Australian communities and international bodies.

We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and professional Executive Assistant with extensive experience supporting senior executives. This role will provide exceptional executive and administrative support to our President, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of priorities, communications, and day to day operations of the President’s office.

This full-time, ongoing position offers a competitive salary range of $79,125 - $86,246 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation. Part time, job share arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

This position is based in Sydney and requires full time onsite attendance.

The key duties of the position include:

What You’ll Do:

- Manage the President’s diary.
- Coordinate and support internal and external meetings including bookings, room set up, meeting visitors,



arranging catering and taking meeting minutes.
- Manage the President’s travel arrangements including bookings and acquittal of travel expenses.
- Manage records relating to the President’s Office and manage incoming/outgoing correspondence from the President’s Office.
- Administer procurement activities, payment of invoices and acquittal of expenditure.
- Work collaboratively with other Executive Assistants to review, streamline and enhance administrative processes across the Commission.
- Prepare, send and receive correspondence and receive and triage phone calls and emails.
- Maintain administrative systems and processes to ensure consistency and quality in executive support services.
- Liaise with Commissioners and staff and external agencies to ensure good communication flows and prioritisation of issues requiring the President’s action.
- Assist with logistics for major Commission meetings and events.
- Provide administrative support for projects and committees.

Eligibility

What We’re Looking For:

- Experience in providing executive assistant support to senior executives, building and sustaining effective internal and external relationships.
- Excellent organisation and information technology skills.
- Understanding of government processes and awareness of contemporary human rights issues.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality, initiative, integrity, resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Sound written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and effectively for a wide range of audiences and in various styles.
- Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise confidently with politicians, senior officials,



members of the legal profession and communicate sensitively and effectively with people from a range of backgrounds.
