This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a dedicated Workplace Investigations & Reportable Conduct function, supporting the organisation to manage complex workplace matters while ensuring strong safeguarding and child safety practices.

Reporting to the Director – Workplace Relations & Reportable Conduct, you will take ownership of complex and sensitive investigations from intake through to resolution. Your work will span employee conduct matters, including misconduct, bullying, harassment and reportable conduct involving children.

This is a role where your investigative expertise, sound judgement and ability to navigate sensitive situations will genuinely make a difference.

About the Role

The Principal Investigator – Workplace Relations & Reportable Conduct will be responsible for:

- Lead complex workplace investigations involving misconduct, bullying, harassment and behavioural concerns.
- Manage reportable conduct matters involving children, ensuring legislative and regulatory obligations are met.
- Assess complaints and allegations and determine appropriate pathways for resolution.
- Conduct interviews, analyse evidence and prepare clear, well-reasoned investigation reports.
- Review investigations undertaken by others, providing advice on evidence, procedural fairness and findings.
- Provide trusted advice to senior leaders on workplace relations, investigative and risk matters.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, external investigators, legal advisors and regulators where required.
- Identify trends and systemic risks emerging from investigations and contribute to broader organisational improvements.
- Support matters that may progress to external proceedings, including the Fair Work Commission.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of investigation, workplace conduct and reportable conduct frameworks.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident working with sensitive information and complex situations,

and who brings a calm, objective and considered approach to investigations.

You will bring:

- Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Law, together with a formal investigations qualification.
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations and/or employment law matters.
- Strong knowledge of workplace legislation and employment frameworks.
- Experience managing sensitive matters involving misconduct and behavioural concerns.
- A sound understanding of reportable conduct and child safety obligations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess evidence objectively.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and well-reasoned reports for senior leaders.
- The confidence to exercise independent investigative judgement while working collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
- High levels of integrity, discretion and professional judgement.

Experience in education, early childhood, OSHC or another highly regulated environment will be highly regarded, as will experience with the Queensland Family and Child Commission or similar regulatory bodies. An ICARE qualification would also be advantageous.

Why Apply

This is more than an investigations role. You will have the prospect to contribute to an organisation undergoing significant transformation and help shape how workplace relations, safeguarding and reportable conduct matters are managed into the future.

You’ll work alongside experienced senior leaders and have the opportunity to influence organisational practice through your investigative insights, risk identification and recommendations.

The organisation is committed to a values-led culture and to ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of children across its schools and services.

Please note:

A current or obtainable Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is a mandatory requirement, along with participation in required Child Safety training.
