Emergency Response Team Full time and casual Pool - Snowy 2.0
NX Blue are currently recruiting for and taking Expressions of Interest for Full time ERT team members as well as people for our Short Term Casuals / Temp Pool. We are looking for experienced Professional Fire Fighters / First Responders as part of our Emergency Response Team. There are full time positions available as well as multiple members for our casual pool who are very important team members that will fill in when permanent staff are on Leave. DIDO or FIFO from Capital Cities. Most swings for casuals will generally be 1-2 weeks at at time, a good stepping stone if you are looking to be a long term consideration. Snowy 2.0 Project in the Snowy Monaro Region.
How the casual pool role works; This fits in with your current employment and roster. We keep you as part of the casual pool to assist in times of need. When there is at least two consecutive weeks to assist with fill in duties, we reach out to the casual pool to see who is available on those dates. This may fit in with your current roster of perhaps it's a case of taking paid/unpaid leave to assist with those couple of weeks or multiple weeks. This is very highly monetised so you would be well paid for your time.
We are focusing on candidates with Significant Professional Fire Rescue background (NSW Fire and Rescue equivalent pertaining to other states) that have rosters that may suit this type of casual Temp Pool Position .
$53 Plus Penalties, Plus applicable allowances and loading for N/S.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Firefighting and rescue duties and coordination of site emergencies
- Emergency First Aid, fire prevention and other incident response services
- Delivery of and participation in briefings
- Maintenance and checking of gas monitors, emergency equipment, site response vehicles, rescue tools, etc
- Training and management of the volunteer Emergency Response Team
- Maintain training records, vehicle and equipment maintenance logs.
- Conduct checks of fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and other first response fire fighting equipment.
- Conduct drills and training exercises as per site requirements, complete reports and provide after action reviews.
- Ongoing First aid and training, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
- Shutdown procedures.
- Chemical spill control procedures.
- Search and emergency rescue procedures and planning
- Hazardous materials emergency response.
- Evacuation Procedures.
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to commit to paid overtime hours to train the Volunteers.

Minimum Requirements / Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Construction Safety Training (White/Blue Card) – Essential)
- Project approved Medical and Drug and Alcohol test
- Minimum MR- Class Driver License
- Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue
- OR Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
- HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (1 Year Expiry)
- HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid (3 Years Expiry)
- RIIWHS202E - Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (2 Year Expiry)
- RIIWHS204E - Work Safely at Heights (2 Year Expiry)
- PUASAR025 - Undertake confined space rescue (2 Year Expiry – If you have completed this qualification more than 2 years ago, please supply a letter from your current employer to prove currency in industry – contact Benje for further details if required)
- PUAFIR207 - Operate Breathing Apparatus open circuit
- PUASAR032 - Undertake Vertical Rescue
- PUASAR024 - Undertake Road Crash Rescue
- PUAEME008 – Provide Pain management
- A primary focus on WHS in the workplace
Highly Desirable:
- Ability to offer a high level of service to the organisation.
- Training as a Mines Rescue Cadet
- Previous underground or Tunnelling experience in a similar role
- Isolate and Lock out / RIISAM202D
- High level of interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to self-manage and be time efficient.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exposure to working in the emergency services industry and providing emergency support.
- Ability to operate efficiently independently and in a team environment, especially under stressful and time critical situations.
- Underground, experience preferred. Experience in tunnel constructions and works highly desired.
- Surface and/or Underground rescue experience preferred.
- Must be able to work 2 weeks on 1 week off FIFO or DIDO roster.
