The Role
The APS 5 Manager Education Schemes (Army) is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day management of Army specific and Defence led civil education schemes. These schemes ensure Army personnel are supported to access educational opportunities that contribute to capability development and workforce readiness. Working within the Directorate of Army Learning and Education Systems (DAELS) at Headquarters Forces Command, the role involves administering education schemes, in year and short term financial planning and management, providing policy advice and guidance to stakeholders, monitoring program compliance, managing student and unit enquiries, and coordinating with education providers across Australia. Routine business management tasks including payment of invoices relating to Army/ADF Education Schemes.
The position requires strong organisational skills; a sound aptitude for financial management, oversight and governance; attention to detail; and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality customer service and administrative support in a dynamic environment.
About our Team
The Education Schemes team is part of the Directorate of Army Learning and Education Systems (DAELS) within Headquarters Forces Command.
The team is responsible for supporting Army's workforce generation through the administration and coordination of a range of civilian education programs and educational assistance schemes. Working closely with Army career management agencies, units, education providers, and Defence stakeholders, the team ensures members are able to access learning opportunities that enhance individual development and support Army capability outcomes. The team fosters a qualified, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture where collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service are highly valued. Members of the team contribute directly to enabling Army personnel to develop the skills, knowledge, and qualifications required to meet current and future workforce needs.
