Full Job Description
An exciting full-time opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Coder to join a well-established private healthcare organisation based in Sydney's Inner West.
Working within a centralised Clinical Coding team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes across multiple hospitals. Your expertise will directly contribute to high-quality patient data, accurate DRG allocation, compliant billing, and improved healthcare outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of clinical specialties while collaborating closely with clinicians and healthcare professionals in a supportive, quality-focused setting. You will receive ongoing guidance and support from an experienced Team Leader, with the potential to transition to a hybrid work arrangement after successfully completing your probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS codes to inpatient episodes using digital medical records
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with Australian Coding Standards and National Coding Guidelines
- Review clinical documentation and liaise with clinicians to clarify incomplete or inconsistent information
- Contribute to accurate DRG assignment and optimal private health funding outcomes
- Complete coding within established turnaround times while maintaining quality benchmarks
- Participate in clinical documentation improvement initiatives and coding audits
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across Clinical Coding and Medical Records processes
- Minimum of 3 years' Clinical Coding experience within an Australian hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS coding standards
- Experience working within the private healthcare sector, with an understanding of private health funding models
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to coding accuracy and compliance
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- A collaborative approach and a genuine passion for continuous learning and professional improvement
