The Role
Ambulatory Cell Therapies, including the Apheresis and Infusion Centre units, is seeking exceptional nurses like you to join our dynamic team.
The Registered Nurse will deliver evidence based clinical nursing care, using best practice activities, quality systems compliance and excellence in patient and donor management.
The Registered Nurse within ACT will have the opportunity to care for their patients throughout their Cellular Therapy treatment within both Apheresis and the Infusion Centre.
We have both part-time and full-time opportunities available for a 12-month contract.
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday working Early ) or late ) shifts.
The ideal candidate will meet the following essential criteria:
- Commitment to Peter Macs Values and Peter Macs Nursing Values.
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- At least 2 years recent acute oncology/haematology experience.
- Current Victorian Working with Childrens.
- A commitment to lifelong learning and continuing professional development.
- A patient focused approach to care.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Administration of Blood Products
- Central Venous Access Device Management
- Management and Administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy
- Nursing Management for Patient Undergoing Cellular Therapies (formally Autologous Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation)
- Intravenous Cannulation of Adults and Management
- Therapeutic Apheresis Procedures (Extracorporeal Photopheresis, Therapeutic Plasma Exchange, Red Cell Exchange/Depletion)

Position Summary
The Apheresis and Ambulatory Cellular Therapies Services contribute to the care and management of patients and donors from collection or treatment of blood components, through to the infusion of cellular products. The purpose of this position is to deliver evidence-based clinical nursing care using best practice activities, quality systems compliance and excellence in patient and donor management.

Skills
- Division 1 Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ post registration experience
- Working with Children’s Check
- Evidence of commitment to evidence based practice and ongoing quality improvement in oncology/haematology nursing
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills with proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in Haematology/Oncology or Apheresis nursing
- Experience working in an environment with quality / regulatory overlay
- GMP and/or GCP certification

Key Accountabilities
1. Clinical Practice and Management of Patient Care Continuum
- Within scope of practice ensures patient needs are identified and interventions implemented in a timely manner
- Participate in and contribute to clinical care in accordance with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Support the ongoing development of the clinical services model and provide support between Peter Mac and external partners
- Participates equally and fairly in on call and overtime when required
Communication and Documentation
- Ensure that all documentation, policies and procedures are undertaken in accordance with organisational requirements
- Demonstrate commitment to education of patient, family and staff in the area of cancer and haematology, including provision of information, education and access to resources

- Functions within the scope and requirements of professional accountability, responsibility and clinical practice according to AHPRA
- Demonstrates responsibility for own learning through attendance at conference, short course programs and tertiary education, ensuring that the minimum requirement of Continuing Professional Development hours are attended and documented per annum

- Participates in relevant quality improvement and departmental activities and works proactively with the patient and health care team to achieve desired outcome goals
