The chance we have available
The Vehicle Safety Operations Branch is Australia’s national vehicle standards regulator.
The Branch is responsible for administering the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 which sets vehicle standards for all new vehicles entering the Australian market and regulates the supply to the market of used vehicles.
This involves assessment of RVS applications for the provision of compliant road vehicles, supporting stakeholders through a central contact centre, managing the road vehicle and road vehicle component recall process and, compliance and enforcement activities under the RVS legislation.
There are 4 sections in our Branch:
- Application Assessments and Approvals
- Technical Assessments and Approvals
- Compliance and Enforcement
- Recalls Notification and Monitoring
What you will do
These roles are varied and dynamic and sit across the Recalls Notification and Monitoring; Assessment Application and Approvals; and Technical Assessment and Approvals Sections. Typical duties include:
- Contribute to briefings, correspondence and reports
- assess applications (and evidence) against the requirements of the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018
- conduct quality assurance (QA) on applications, recalls and outgoing correspondence
- support process improvement through issue identification during QA reviews including the review of operating procedures
- support the branch risk reporting processes including contributing to the section’s risk management reviews and reporting
- analyse and assess information gathered through assessment and assurance activities and propose business improvements
- manage professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including maintaining the arrangements for ongoing coordination, consultation, oversight and reporting.
- adopt and implement any changes in process or procedure
- develop training materials and standard operating procedures
- provide statistical and other reporting as necessary
- engage with stakeholders about their applications or recalls and the related policy and standards
- analysing and assessing information to conduct risk assessments.
