Mid-Western RegionalCouncil is seeking an experienced and solutions-focused Human ResourcesCoordinator to lead the delivery of contemporary HR services across our diverseorganisation.
Reporting to theManager People and Performance, you will lead and develop the Human Resourcesteam while providing trusted, practical advice to supervisors and managers. Youwill also play a key role in achieving the objectives and delivering the priorityactions and projects set out in Council’s Workforce Management Strategy.
This is a hands-onleadership role combining complex employee relations, team management, policydevelopment, workforce planning, project delivery and continuous improvement.

A day in the life
You’ll work acrossa broad range of HR priorities, balancing day-to-day operational needs withproject that supports Council’s people and Workforce Management Strategy.
No two days will look the same in this role, youmight start the morning checking in with the HR team and helping to prioritisecurrent recruitment, employee relations and workforce projects. From there, youcould coach a manager through a performance matter, interpret an industrialinstrument, review an HR procedure or prepare advice on a sensitive workplaceissue.
Your afternoon may involve progressing aproject under Council’s Workforce Management Strategy, consulting withstakeholders, or reporting on progress and outcomes to the Manager People andPerformance.
You will balance immediate operational needswith longer-term initiatives that build workforce capability, improve theemployee experience and support Council to achieve its strategic objectives.If you enjoy working with people,

About This Role
In this role, youwill:
- Lead,support and develop the HR team, setting clear priorities and ensuring theconsistent delivery of high-quality HR services;
- Drive theobjectives, actions and priority projects set out in Council’s WorkforceManagement Strategy, monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes;
- Providetrusted, practical and risk-aware advice to managers on complex employeerelations, performance, disciplinary and workplace matters;
- Coachmanagers and HR team members to strengthen people-management capability andsupport fair, consistent decision-making;
- Lead thedevelopment and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, systems andservice delivery;
- Interpretand apply employment legislation, industrial instruments and Council policiesin a complex workplace environment;
- Bevisible, approachable and customer-focused HR driven, proactively engaging withemployees, leaders and business areas to understand theirneeds, identifyopportunities and provide timely, practical and tailored support; and
- Identifyemerging workforce trends and risks, turning these insights into practicalrecommendations and improvements.
About you
You are an experiencedgeneralist HR professional who can combine sound technical knowledge withpractical judgement and a genuine commitment to supporting others.
You will bring:
- demonstrated generalist HR experienceacross employee relations, performance management, policy development,employee engagement and learning and development;
- experience managing complex and sensitiveworkplace matters, including disciplinary processes and union engagement;
- demonstrated experience deliveringworkforce initiatives, organisational projects or strategic HR actions;
- a tertiary qualification in humanresources or a related discipline, or equivalent senior HR experience;
- sound knowledge of employment legislationand industrial instruments;
- demonstrated experience leading, coachingand developing an HR team;
- strong project management, analytical,problem-solving and prioritisation skills;
- well-developed written and verbalcommunication skills;
- the confidence to provide clear, balancedand solutions-focused advice;
- a current Class C driver’s licence; and
- a strong commitment to integrity,accountability and workplace safety.
- An ability to obtain a criminal history check
Experience in localgovernment will be highly regarded but is not essential. Candidates with strongHR leadership experience from other complex, multidisciplinary or regulatedorganisations are encouraged to apply.
