The Opportunity
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of SME clients while acting as a technical leader within the team.
You'll work closely with business owners, accountants and fellow bookkeepers to ensure high-quality outcomes, accurate reporting and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME clients across various industries
- Reviewing bookkeeping work completed by junior and offshore team members
- Processing and reviewing payroll for a range of client environments
- Managing BAS, IAS, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, WorkCover and STP obligations
- Preparing month-end and year-end workpapers and reporting packs
- Reviewing reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments
- Ensuring client files are accurate, compliant and accountant-ready
- Identifying errors, trends and opportunities for process improvement
- Providing clients with proactive support and guidance within bookkeeping scope
- Mentoring and developing junior team members
- Assisting with workflow management and quality assurance across the team
- Supporting the ongoing adoption of technology and automation within bookkeeping processes
What We're Looking For
You are likely an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys taking ownership, building trusted relationships and helping others succeed.
Ideal Background
- Minimum 5+ years' bookkeeping experience
- Strong Xero experience, including payroll
- Previous experience within an accounting firm, outsourced bookkeeping provider or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of SME business operations
- Proven experience with payroll, compliance and reporting obligations
- Experience reviewing the work of others
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability
- Comfortable working within a collaborative team environment
- Interest in technology, automation and the future of bookkeeping
