Opening in 2027 in the heart of Caulfield, Shelford Campus willbe Caulfield Grammar School’s newest Junior School. The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of languagelearning and help establish an exceptional Mandarin Languageprogram at our new Shelford Campus.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Campus, the Junior SchoolLanguages (Mandarin) Teacher will work collaboratively withclassroom teachers and learning leaders to deliver an engaging andcontemporary Mandarin Language program that reflects the School'svalues and commitment to excellence. Through a dynamic andstudent-centred approach, you will provide meaningful languagelearning experiences that foster communication skills, culturalunderstanding, curiosity and confidence.
Working with students, you will have the unique opportunity todesign and implement well-structured learning programs that supportstudents' linguistic, social and intellectual development. You willcreate inclusive and engaging learning environments that cater todiverse learning needs, encourage active participation and supportevery student to achieve success.
As a founding member of the Shelford Campus team, you will playa key role in shaping a positive culture of learning, collaborationand innovation. You will contribute to the development of a vibrantand connected school community where students are encouraged toembrace diversity, think globally and develop a lifelong passionfor learning.
This role also includes an additional responsibility for thefirst year, with dedicated time to lead the development of analigned Mandarin curriculum across Caulfield Grammar School's threeJunior Schools. Working in partnership with colleagues at ourMalvern and Wheelers Hill campuses, you will drive a shared visionfor high-quality language teaching and learning, develop an alignedPrep to Year 6 curriculum, and support best practice across allcampuses.
This is a ongoing part-time opportunity which has a flexible FTEarrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of an engaging andhigh-quality Mandarin language program across the JuniorSchools that promotes language acquisition, communicationskills and intercultural understanding.
- Lead the design and implementation of well-sequencedlearning experiences aligned with a quality curriculum andcontemporary teaching practices.
- Engage in coaching to develop a shared understanding ofbest practice language teaching & learning.
- Use a range of effective teaching strategies to engagestudents and support learning across the full range ofabilities.
- Create and maintain a safe, positive and inclusiveclassroom environment that supports student wellbeing,participation and achievement.
- Differentiate teaching and learning programs to meet thediverse needs of students from a range of backgrounds andlearning profiles.
- Integrate appropriate technologies and resources to enhancestudent engagement and learning outcomes.
- Assess, monitor and evaluate student progress, providingtimely and meaningful feedback to support growth andachievement.
- Use assessment data and evidence-based practices to informplanning and improve student learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents and carers to supportstudent learning and wellbeing.
- Actively participate in professional learning, facultycollaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate active involvement in School life andcontribute positively to the broader school community.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Education.
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)registration.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Mandarin within a primaryor junior school setting.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and contemporarylanguage teaching practices.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging anddifferentiated learning programs that support diverselearners.
- Experience using a range of teaching strategies to promotestudent engagement, critical thinking and activeparticipation.
- Ability to effectively integrate ICT into learning andteaching programs.
- Strong assessment and reporting skills, with the ability touse student data to inform teaching practice.
- Highly developed communication, organisational and timemanagement skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to buildcollaborative relationships with students, families andcolleagues.
- Commitment to professional learning, reflective practiceand continuous improvement.
- Passion for language education and fostering students'understanding of different cultures and perspectives.
