Job Description
Contracts Administrator / Project Accountant
n
Do you love the challenge of keeping a project both contractually watertight and financially on track?
n
Are you the kind of person who can review a subcontract clause in the morning and reconcile a project's WIP position in the afternoon, without missing a beat?
n
If that sounds like you, Amicus could be your next great move.
n
About Amicus
n
Amicus is an award-winning employer with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Established in 2005, we began with a focus on design and fitout for the Office, Laboratory, Education and Hospitality sectors.

n
About the Role:
n
Most people in construction are either "contracts people" or "finance people." We're after someone who genuinely enjoys both sides of the ledger. You'll administer subcontracts, claims, variations and procurement across a portfolio of office fit-out projects, while owning the financial detail that keeps those same projects on track.
n
You'll bring together contract administration and project accounting in a single role. You'll partner closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients, so as much as this is anumbers-and-contracts role, it's a relationships one too.
n
What you'll be doing:
n
n
- Administering subcontracts and progress claims across a portfolio of office fit-out projects, from award through to close-out
n
- Owning the financial health of your projects - WIP, revenue recognition, cashflow forecasting and budget tracking
n
- Reviewing and processing variations,
claims and extensions of time (EOT), keepingeverything aligned to contract
n
- Preparing progress claims, subcontractor invoices and project financial reports forinternal and client stakeholders
n
- Supporting cost estimating and budget creation on new projects
n
- Keeping project documentation, records and reporting audit-ready, so nothing fallsthrough the cracks at handover
n
- Building strong working relationships with project managers, site teams, subcontractorsand clients
n
n
What you'll bring:
n
n
- Certificate or diploma in relevant field, however you do not need to be a qualifiedCA/CPA/accountant
n
- A minimum of 2 years' experience across contracts administration and/or project accounting, ideally within construction or fit-out
n
- Knowledge administering standard construction contracts (AS4901, AS4902, AS4903, AS4000or similar)
n
- Solid understanding of project financials - WIP, budgets, progress claims andcashflow - and the systems that support them
n
- Sharp attention to detail, transparent communication, and a bias toward ownership overwaiting to be asked
n
n
What might not work for you:
n
n
- You want a role that's purely desk-based finance with no site or project context
n
- You'd rather specialise deeply in one lane than flex between contracts, cost and commercialreporting
n
- You're not comfortable with the pace and occasional ambiguity of live constructionprojects
n
n
What You'll Find at Amicus:
n
n
- Hybrid working arrangements and a genuinely flexible, high-trust environment
n
- An activity-based workspace designed around the way people actually work
n
- Tailored development and training opportunities
n
- A team culture built on our TAP values - Teamwork, Accountability and Positivity -that shows up in how we support each other and show up for clients
