Our client is a leading Australian retailer and has recently had a position open for an experienced State Manager to lead and oversee its New South Wales operations.

This is a senior leadership role suited to an individual who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership across a multi-site environment.

The Role

n

Reporting to senior leadership, this position is responsible for the overall operational and commercial performance of multiple locations across NSW, including retail showrooms, commercial sales activity, and supporting warehouse operations.

n

You will work closely with site leadership teams to drive consistency, improve performance outcomes, and ensure a high standard of customer experience across all areas of the business. A key focus will be on leadership capability, operational discipline, and sustainable sales growth.

Core Responsibilities

- Lead and support site management teams to deliver consistent operational standards and commercial outcomes
n
- Drive revenue growth and profitability through execution of state-wide initiatives
n
- Ensure high standards of store presentation, stock availability, and operational compliance
n
- Develop and coach site leaders to enhance performance, accountability, and team capability
n




- Oversee inventory management across retail and warehouse functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
n
- Monitor financial performance, including reporting, cost control, and promotional effectiveness
n
- Support workforce planning to align staffing structures with business requirements
n
- Manage escalated customer issues while reinforcing ownership at site level
n
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of site leaders and sales teams
n
- Maintain strong service standards and timely customer engagement across all channels
n
- Ensure effective communication and alignment across geographically dispersed sites
n
- Coordinate stock transfers and logistics between locations
n
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement best practices
n
- Contribute to broader commercial initiatives, including business development and key account opportunities
n

About You

n

Essential Experience & Capability:

n

n
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a State, Regional, or District leadership role overseeing multiple sites
n
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing teams
n
- Strong commercial acumen within a retail or multi-site operational environment
n
- Solid understanding of stock management and warehouse-integrated retail operations
n
- Highly developed analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
n
- Demonstrated success in driving sales performance and customer experience outcomes
n

Desirable:

- Exposure to the fitness, health, or gym equipment industry
n
- Experience within large-format or bulky goods retail environments
n
