- Assessing and monitoring student learning, wellbeing, engagement and progress against individual goals
- Working collaboratively with SLSOs, including providing clear direction to support the effective implementation of learning, behaviour, communication and personal care programs
- Consulting regularly with students, parents/carers, executive staff, allied health professionals and external agencies
- Contributing positively to the operation of an 8-class Support Unit through collaboration, shared programming, consistent practices and teamwork

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism spectrum disorder,

mild intellectual disabilities, complex learning and support needs and behavioural difficulties.

2. Demonstrated capacity to program and differentiate the curriculum and include whole school priorities for students with diverse learning needs.

3. Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team to build positive relationships and effectively liaise with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.

4. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, with the capacity to embed culturally responsive practices that strengthen student engagement, wellbeing, cultural identity and educational outcomes
