This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing October 2026 up until December, 2027 with possible permanency.

Education Business Services (EBS) is the key provider of skilled business services and support for Western Australian public schools, statutory boards and divisions of the Department. These highly valued services are delivered through the areas of finance, information communication and technologies (ICT), and infrastructure. The Role

The Budget Officer will prepare, analyse, regularly review and report the Department’s revenue and expenditure budget, and restricted cash position. This includes providing input into the development and maintenance of financial systems, internal controls and reconciliations to facilitate effective cash flow management and reporting. They will also process budgets into financial systems, including preparing and processing budget adjustments.

The role also assists in preparing reporting and ensure monitoring requirements are met for Royalties for Regions (RFR) programs by maintaining close liaison with program managers and assist budget holders to manage RFR budgets and meet acquittal requirements.

The successful applicant will undertake research for reports, Ministerials, briefings and parliamentary questions and prepare appropriate responses. In addition, work closely with other senior officers within the Directorate, the Department and the Department of Treasury to ensure timeliness,



accuracy and best practice in financial reporting. Applicants with strong customer service delivery and experience with maintaining collaboratively working relationships and effective communication networks with various stakeholders are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- possess or demonstrate progression towards a tertiary qualification in accounting, business, finance or related area or equivalent considerable experience
