Therapeutic Services;
Harm Reduction Services; and
Better Access Medical Clinic.

About the role
Part time role - 30 hours per week
Function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role to provide a holistic Nurse Practitioner led health service with a specific emphasis on people who use substances.
You will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse range of patients both from QuIHN’s locations throughout Queensland as well as via outreach at more remote locations.
Provide a client focused, multidisciplinary nurse practitioner range of services in line with current best practice and client centred care: -
Work with local hospitals to provide follow-up and post discharge care
Provide referral and linkage to General Practices (GP’s, primary mental health, drug and alcohol,
allied health and specialist services)
Liaising with and advocacy to access hospital and primary care services
Direct nursing interventions which may include:
Holistic clinical health assessments and chronic disease management
Prescribing medications and management
Wound care and vein care for those who inject, including the management of injection related injuries and infections
Health education and promotion + drug and alcohol assessments and brief interventions
Diagnosis, treatment and management for Blood Borne Viruses (BBV)
Diagnosis, treatment and management of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)
Referral and specialist triage
What we’re looking for
A passionate individual dedicated to health outcomes for clients and communities, who can bring:
Registered Nurse holding a current practice certificate as a Division 1 from the relevant authority (Nursing and Midwifery Board) endorsement as Nurse Practitioner
Postgraduate qualification(s) in Nursing, Master’s Degree and other credentials relevant to scope of practice
Experience in providing advanced clinical nursing expertise, including; comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostic findings, implementation of appropriate treatment modalities,
and effective referral practices across a wide range of complex, challenging, and evolving clinical situations. This encompasses Primary Health care as well as Harm Reduction services, including the treatment, management, and clinical care of BBVs and STIs.
Demonstrated understanding of the health care delivery system, ability to lead and implement changes, and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence-based research
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability while also working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multi service environment.
Is an active ally to the community that uses substances, and is able to engage effectively with vulnerable, complex individuals and families impacted by substance use and related challenges.
Current qualified indemnity insurance
Current Queensland driver's licence (or equivalent)
Willing to travel throughout Queensland, both by car and air, to provide services
Salary and Benefits
Remuneration based on skills and experience $75-$80 per hour
Part time role - 30 hours per week - No after hours, weekend, or public holiday work
