Bright Brewery is looking for an experienced Head Chef to take ownership of our kitchen and food offering at our flagship Bright venue.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who loves great food, knows how to run a high‑performing kitchen and understands that creativity and strong commercial performance need to go hand in hand.

About the role

As Head Chef, you’ll lead all back of house operations and have genuine ownership of the kitchen, from menu development and food quality through to team leadership, systems, labour, COGS and supplier management.

You’ll work closely with our Venue Manager and wider venue leadership team to deliver a consistently great experience across one of the High Country’s busiest hospitality venues.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Leading, developing and supporting our kitchen team

- Developing seasonal menus that reflect Bright Brewery and our High Country home

- Maintaining exceptional standards across food quality, presentation and consistency

- Managing kitchen COGS, labour, wastage and margin performance

- Leading rostering, recruitment, onboarding and team development

- Managing suppliers, ordering, stock control and inventory





- Maintaining strong food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards

- Building efficient kitchen systems and continually improving how we operate

- Developing our Sous Chef and emerging kitchen leaders

- Working closely with FOH to deliver seamless service, particularly through high-volume periods

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef or senior kitchen leader who can bring together great food, strong leadership and sound commercial thinking.

You’ll ideally have:

- Proven experience leading a high-volume kitchen

- Strong menu development and food costing skills

- A solid understanding of COGS, labour and margin management

- Experience building and developing successful kitchen teams

- Robust organisational and communication skills

- The ability to remain calm and lead effectively through busy services

- A hands‑on approach to leadership

- Food Safety Supervisor certification
