The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Alliance is Australia's first and most ambitious comprehensive cancer centre: a joint venture of 12 member and associate member institutions, integrating cancer research, education and clinical care.

The VCCC Alliance members are academic, clinical and medical research institutions that are each leaders in their own right. The alliance brings the strengths of these organisations together, generating a critical mass of expertise, patient numbers and resources, underpinned by a pledge to work collaboratively towards shared goals in cancer control.

There is now a fantastic opportunity for a senior strategic communications leader to drive the organisation's communications strategy as it enters an exciting new phase to improve outcomes for all Victorians affected by cancer.

The role

n

The Senior Communications Manager reports directly to the Executive Leadership Team, and is a critical role managing the profile and reputation of the VCCC Alliance and its network.

n

A highly strategic role, keeping the VCCC Alliance brand at the forefront. You will be responsible for the conceptualisation and delivery of multi-channel campaigns, proactive and reactive media, advocacy (including funding opportunities and announcements) member engagement and government relations.

In addition to this, you will also be responsible for the following:

- Provide strategic communications advice to the CEO, executive leadership team
n
- Leadership support of a small communications function
n
- Manage government relations, in particular, working with members, key stakeholders and partner organisations in the lead up to the Victorian state election
n
- Manage co-branding of partner organisations
n
- Manage all forms of communication,



both online and traditional to provide important updates on the Alliance and government issues
n
- Create and deliver strategic communications planning
n
- Project manage the VCCC Alliance annual report
n
- Lead strategic stakeholder relationships
n

Skills and experience

n

As Senior Communications Manager, we are looking for a proven strategic communications professional with leadership capabilities. You will have significant corporate communications experience across both internal and external communications.

n

In addition to this, you will have the following:

n

n
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism or similar field experience
n
- Sound knowledge (or experience) in healthcare or medical fields
n
- Experience managing media
n
- Ideally proven experience working across government departments supporting communications
n
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
n
- Knowledge or experience working across member-focused organisations is an advantage
n
- A proactive approach to strategic communications, identifying the opportunities to promote brand and profile of organisations
n
- Solid knowledge working across multiple digital platforms and systems
n
