Orange Health Care is growing in Townsville and we are seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Residential Youth Workers to join our Children's Services team.
You will support children and young people living in residential care, including young people who may have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect or complex life challenges.

About the Role
- Provide safe, consistent and trauma-informed support to children and young people.
- Support young people in accordance with their individual care plans, safety plans and goals.
- Build positive and professional relationships that promote wellbeing, resilience and independence.
- Assist with daily routines, appointments, transport, shopping, meal preparation and community activities.
- Support young people with complex behaviours using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
- Maintain a safe, stable and supportive residential environment.
- Complete case notes, shift reports, incident reports and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Child Safety, families, schools, health professionals and other stakeholders.
What We're Looking For

- Reliable, responsible and able to work independently.
- Strong communicators and effective team members.
- Flexible and available to work across a 24/7 rotating roster.
- Experienced in youth work, residential care, child protection or a related sector.
Applicants must hold,
or where applicable be willing and eligible to obtain:
- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services or another relevant qualification.
- Current Queensland Blue Card.
- Child Safety and Personal History Screening (LCS2).
- National Police Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Highly Desirable
- Minimum 1 year of relevant youth work or residential care experience.
- Experience supporting young people who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect.
- Experience supporting young people with complex or challenging behaviours.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care.
- Understanding of culturally protected practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
Shifts Available
- Day shifts
- Afternoon/evening shifts
- Active overnight shifts
- Public holidays
- Applicants with good availability across a variety of shifts will be highly regarded.
