Doherty Couplers & Attachments
New South Wales
Job Description
Doherty Couplers & Attachments Ltd – Smeaton Grange NSW
n
Doherty Couplers & Attachments is an Australian subsidiary of the Kinshofer Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of hydraulic excavator attachments. From our Brisbane assembly facility, we design, build, and support a range of high-quality products — quick couplers, tilt couplers, and specialist attachments used by contractors, civil construction businesses, and earthmoving operators across Australia and New Zealand.
n
Our product is technical, our customers are demanding, and our reputation is built on solving problems fast and doing what we say we'll do. We're expanding our NSW presence with a new facility at Smeaton Grange — and this role is central to making it work.
n
THE ROLE
n
We're looking for a technically sharp, hands-on Field Service & Assembly Technician to be the operational backbone of our new Smeaton Grange branch. Your primary responsibility is field service — you'll be the go‐to person for NSW and ACT customers when they need installation support, commissioning assistance, or warranty resolution on their attachments.
n
This is a genuinely autonomous role. You'll manage your own schedule, travel your territory, and own customer relationships from the moment the attachment is delivered. You'll report to our After Sales & Product Support Manager in Brisbane and be part of a three-person national field service team covering QLD, VIC, and NSW.
n
When you're not in the field, you're at the facility. The Smeaton Grange branch will start with two people — you and a Warehouse, Parts & Logistics Coordinator. When service commitments allow, you'll be in the workshop: preparing and assembling attachments for delivery, applying paint touch-ups and finishing coats, and helping keep the branch running day to day. In a small startup branch, everyone contributes to whatever needs doing.
n
WHAT YOU'LL DO
n
n
- Supporting customers with attachment installation, commissioning, and initial operation at their sites across NSW and the ACT
n
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and hydraulic faults with attachments in the field
n
- Managing warranty investigations — assessing faults, completing service reports, and coordinating replacement parts
n
- Building strong ongoing relationships with NSW customers — representing the business professionally on every visit
n
- Feeding product performance intelligence back to the Brisbane team to help keep improving our product and support
n
- Coordinating field service scheduling with our NSW Territory Manager to align visits with customer relationships
n
- Keeping your service van stocked, clean, and road-ready at all times
n
n
Workshop — when not in the field
n
n
- Preparing and assembling attachments for delivery to NSW and ACT customers — fitting hoses, fittings, brackets, cylinders, teeth, and components to build specifications
n
- Applying paint touch-ups and finishing coats so every attachment leaves the facility looking the part — surface preparation and spray work
n
- Completing pre-dispatch quality checks — confirming attachments are complete, correct, and properly finished before they leave
n
- Assisting the Warehouse Coordinator with inwards goods, dispatch, and freight when field commitments allow
n
- Maintaining the workshop and facility in a clean, safe, and organised condition
n
n
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
n
n
- A trade qualification in hydraulics, mechanical fitting, or similar — or equivalent hands‐on experience
n
- 3+ years in field service, plant maintenance, or equipment installation — you're comfortable diagnosing issues independently and working without close supervision
n
- Strong hydraulic troubleshooting capability — you can read a schematic, work through a problem methodically, and identify root cause
n
- A professional, confident manner with customers — you deal directly with operators and business owners and represent the brand well on every visit
n
- Self‐managed and organised — you plan your own days, prioritise well, and follow through
n
- Valid driver's licence
n
- Painting experience — spray finishing of fabricated or assembled equipment — is a genuine advantage and will be put to use regularly
n
- Experience with excavator attachments or earth‐moving equipment is a bonus — but if you're mechanically excellent and keen to learn the product, we'll invest in you.
n
n
WHY JOIN US
n
n
- Fully maintained company vehicle
n
- Full tools of trade provided
n
- Real autonomy across your NSW/ACT territory
n
- Technical support from a strong Brisbane and NZ team
n
- Diverse work — no two days the same
n
- Part of a small, close‐knit branch team
n
- Our entire team live by our four core values - Deliver what we promise, Exceed expectations, Attitude (be part of the solution), and Love what we do. If you believe in these values, then you'll fit right in.
n
n
We are an equal opportunity employer. We assess candidates on capability and attitude, not background. If you're technically excellent and customer‐focused, we want to hear from you.
n
Note:Applicants for this position MUST have Australian residency or a valid Australian work visa.
