Carpentaria Shire Council is seeking an experienced, progressive executive leader to join its Executive Leadership Team as Director Corporate Services.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this pivotal role provides strategic leadership across finance, ICT, procurement, records management, local laws, property, strategic planning and business improvement.

With sealed road access, airports, a major seaport, schools, medical services and recreational facilities, Carpentaria Shire is well connected and well supported. Employing approximately 100 staff and managing a $147 million budget, including major capital works and flood recovery programs, Council plays a pivotal role in shaping the region's future.

About the Role

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team,



you will help shape Council's strategic direction while leading a diverse portfolio that includes:

- Finance and administration
- Budget development and financial reporting
- ICT operations and business systems
- Procurement and stores
- Records and information management
- Audit, Risk and compliance
- Local laws administration
- Property, leases, licences and insurance management
- Strategic planning, business improvement and performance reporting
- Grants and investment management

You will lead and mentor a team of managers and specialist officers while building organisational capability, strengthening the organisation through best practice governance principles and driving a culture of continuous improvement across Council.

About You

You are a highly capable executive with the vision, leadership and commercial acumen to succeed in a complex and multifaceted environment.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- Senior leadership experience within local government or a comparable organisation
- Experience managing diverse corporate services portfolios such as finance, ICT, business support and community-facing functions
- Strong financial and budget management capability
- Proven ability to lead organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience working with elected representatives,



executives, government agencies and community stakeholders
- Outstanding communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
- Sound understanding of governance, risk management and legislative compliance
- A track record of building high-performing teams and developing organisational capability

The following will be highly regarded:

- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, Project Management, Law, Local Government or a related discipline
- Advanced management qualifications
- Professional registration or accreditation relevant to the portfolio

Council offers an attractive executive package to support relocation and long-term success:

- $180,000 base salary plus superannuation
- Council vehicle with full private use
- Housing provided
- Household utilities allowance of $5,000 per annum
- Travel reimbursement allowance of $5,000 per annum
- Professional development allowance of $2,500 per annum
- Relocation assistance of $5,000 (first year only)
