Beacon Legal has partnered with a global digital infrastructure business at the forefront of the high-growth sector in the search for a Senior Legal Counsel – Construction to join the Sydney office. This chance would suit a lawyer with around 8-14 years' experience who is looking to step into a broad, commercially significant role supporting the delivery of some of Australia's most high-profile projects.

We're seeking a commercially minded and proactive construction lawyer to join a high-performing legal team. This role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of major infrastructure projects, from front-end contracting and procurement through to project delivery, commissioning and operational matters. Working alongside an exceptional legal team, you'll partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business while helping shape the legal frameworks that support a rapidly growing Australian business.

About the Role

- Lead the negotiation and drafting of complex construction and procurement agreements, including EPC, design and construct, master services, supply and subcontractor agreements.
- Advise on legal and commercial issues across the full project lifecycle, from development and procurement through to construction and operations.




- Partner closely with procurement, project delivery and operations teams to manage legal risk and support commercial outcomes.
- Develop strategies to minimise disputes and advise on variations, delay claims, defects, warranties, performance issues and contractor management.
- Manage external counsel on disputes, arbitration and litigation where required.
- Help establish contracting frameworks, policies and processes that will underpin the continued growth of the Australian business.

What we're looking for

- Admitted to practise in Australia.
- Around 8-14 years' post-admission experience in construction and major projects, gained in private practice or in-house.
- Strong experience advising on major infrastructure, engineering or construction projects, with deep expertise in EPC and procurement contracting.
- Preference for lawyers from leading national or international construction practices, though outstanding lawyers from highly regarded specialist or mid-tier firms will also be considered.
- We also welcome applications from experienced in-house lawyers within major infrastructure, construction or engineering businesses.
- Strong technical ability combined with excellent commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
