Backed by an established and highly experienced senior leadership team, Pivot is engaged to find a Site Senior Executive to join at this impressive Central QLD coal mine operation in ramp-up phase and help shape the site's next chapter.

About the Role

Reporting to the COO, the SSE will hold ultimate accountability for the site's compliance, safety, and statutory requirements whilst also engaging in the community. This is a genuine growth opportunity — you'll join a business actively scaling, working alongside a solid, established senior leadership team rather than building one from scratch. You will oversee a team of experienced mining professionals to deliver strategic outcomes and drive business outcomes and improvement initiatives as the site ramps up. You will ensure all statutory requirements are met, support technical aspects of the operations with your knowledge and represent the business in the region, integrating with and championing initiatives within the local community.

About You

You bring proven leadership experience within surface coal mining operations — this is essential. You combine an entrepreneurial spirit with genuine business and people management expertise, and you're motivated by the chance to be part of a business in active growth mode.



You're equally comfortable operating within a corporate reporting structure and engaging with the executive team to deliver companywide objectives. Your attention to detail, solid leadership, and mentoring of the workgroup will drive site culture and safety performance, while you continue to build the business internally — its people, systems, and processes — through this exciting phase.

Key Requirements

Relevant degree qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar related field

Solid statutory knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation

Excellent understanding of the HR/IR/ER landscape

Strong financial acumen and business management skills

Ability to build rapport and mentor the broader workforce

Strong capability to engage with the local community and drive initiatives

Ability to influence and drive outcomes across all levels of the business

Able to engage with multiple stakeholders across various levels and organisations.
