Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Medical Receptionist to join our busy practice. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming environment. This is a full time position working Monday to Friday (38 hours). The hours for the position can vary between 8:00am and 6:00pm.

Our Practice

We are a busy ophthalmology practice located in Norwest. We provide management of ocular conditions including glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, dry eye and oculoplastics. Our team consists of 16 specialists, reception staff, orthoptists and practice manager.

Duties and responsibilities

n

Welcome patients in a warm and professional manner

n

Maintain accurate patient records and update practice systems

n

Schedule and manage appointments, both within our practice and also for other tests such as imaging

n

Process billing and payments

n





Answer and direct telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries

n

End of day reconciliation

n

Attend to emails/faxes and mail

n

Perform general administrative and reception duties

n

Skills and experience

n

Previous experience in a medical reception or administrative role is preferred

n

Ability to multitask

n

Able to remain calm under pressure

n

Well developed interpersonal skills

n

Have excellent oral and written communication skills

n

Have a calm and friendly demeanor

n

Medical typing experience advantageous

n

Have a high degree of computer skills

n

Ability to work as part of a team and also independently

n

High level of attention to detail and confidentiality

n

An ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patient and practice matters
