About This Opportunity

This is an exciting prospect for an experienced health technology assessment evaluator to take on a senior academic leadership role within the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health. Working in a collaborative, purposeful and research intensive environment, you will help strengthen UQ's national and developing international profile in health technology assessment, market access, health economics and outcomes research, while contributing to research translation that supports evidence informed health-system decision-making.

Key responsibilities

- Research: Lead a portfolio of complex health technology assessment and related research projects, providing senior academic and technical leadership across the evaluation and research lifecycle to drive methodological rigour, high-quality outputs, stakeholder engagement, effective risk management and continuous improvement.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Build, lead and mentor a high-performing, collaborative research team, including research staff, evaluators, emerging researchers and Higher Degree by Research students.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop strategic partnerships across UQ and with government, industry, community, health-system and academic partners to grow collaboration, research scale, program reputation and impact.

About You

- Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline area or equivalent.
- An established research profile in health technology assessment, market access, health economics, outcomes research or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering health technology assessments, including preparation, review or evaluation of submissions for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), or comparable reimbursement and market access processes.




- National recognition in your area of expertise, with a developing international profile and an established record of publication in reputed refereed journals.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex evaluation or research projects, including strong capability in research design, project delivery, reporting, stakeholder engagement and risk management.
- Proven ability to provide senior leadership, mentorship and capability development for evaluators and researchers, including designing and delivering training programs, establishing best-practice methodologies and fostering technical excellence within a team.
- A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex research findings into policy, practice, health-system decision‑making, research outputs or commercialisation opportunities.
- A collaborative, inclusive and collegial approach, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to Centre, Faculty and University research priorities, governance and culture.
