Lawyer or Senior Associate - Employment Relations and Safety

An exciting opportunity is available for a Lawyer or Senior Associate to join the Employment Relations and Safety team of a leading national law firm in Brisbane (candidates in Sydney are also welcome to apply). This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside highly regarded specialists on complex and high-profile employment, industrial relations and work health and safety matters. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team that works with leading private sector and government clients, providing practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of workplace issues.

The Team

The Employment Relations and Safety group is one of Australia's leading workplace practices, with a team of more than 20 lawyers across Brisbane and Sydney. The team advises recognised Australian brands and government clients across employment, industrial relations and work health and safety, acting on some of the most significant and complex workplace matters in the market.

Role

Based in Brisbane, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the partner on significant safety matters, while also gaining exposure to employment relations and anti-discrimination work involving senior executives and major Australian businesses. Your matters will be varied and challenging, with exposure to both contentious and advisory work.

Responsibilities

- Advising clients on complex employment, industrial relations and work health and safety matters.
- Acting in Fair Work Commission proceedings, workplace disputes and employment-related litigation.
- Assisting with workplace investigations, employee disciplinary matters, organisational change and redundancy processes.
- Advising on psychosocial risks, workplace conduct issues, underpayments and industrial relations matters.
- Working on significant WHS incident responses, regulator investigations,



prosecutions and coronial inquests.
- Building strong client relationships and delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice.

Requirements

- At least 3 years' post-admission experience in employment, industrial relations and/or work health and safety law.
- Strong technical skills and a genuine interest in complex workplace and safety matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and commercially focused advice.
- Strong time and matter management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple partners and clients.
- A proactive, curious and commercially minded approach with a solid commitment to client service.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team and develop trusted client relationships.
