We're seeking an accomplished Manager, Freedom of Information & Information Release to lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality Freedom of Information (FOI) and information release services. This is a unique opportunity to influence organisational transparency, governance and strategic decision-making while leading a team of legal and FOI professionals.

In this role you'll be responsible for leading the organisation's end-to-end FOI and information release function, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations while balancing transparency, risk and exceptional service delivery.
n You'll work closely with senior executives, government stakeholders and legal representatives, providing expert advice on complex and often high-profile matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Freedom of Information and information release services.
n
- Provide strategic legal advice on FOI legislation, governance and information release.
n
- Oversee complex and high-profile FOI requests, including matters involving Executive leadership and Ministerial offices.
n
- Manage FOI appeals and external review processes, including matters before VCAT and OVIC.
n
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation,



technology enhancements and automation initiatives.
n
- Develop and mentor a high-performing, collaborative and psychologically safe team.
n
- Build strong relationships with internal leaders, government agencies and external stakeholders.
n
- Deliver reporting, governance and compliance activities to support statutory obligations.
n

About You

n

You'll be a confident and influential leader with deep expertise in Freedom of Information legislation and information governance.

n

You'll bring:

n

n
- String background and experience leading complex FOI functions within government or a highly regulated setting.
n
- Eligibility to hold a Legal Practising Certificate in Victoria (or another Australian jurisdiction).
n
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
n
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at Executive level.
n
- A passion for continuous improvement, innovation and building high-performing teams.
n
