ABOUT THE ROLE
n
We are seeking an organised and motivated paralegal to join our personal injury team on a full time, permanent basis.
n
You will work closely with experienced personal injury lawyers and assist with the day to day progression of claims.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Communicating with clients and providing regular claim updates
n
- Preparing correspondence, claim documents and draft legal documents
n
- Requesting and reviewing medical, employment and other evidentiary material
n
- Preparing chronologies, document summaries and brief to experts and counsel
n
- Liaising with insurers, WorkCover Queensland, medical providers,
barristers and other stakeholders
n
- Assisting with disclosure and the preparation of settlement conferences
n
- Maintaining accurate electronic files, diaries and critical dates
n
- Supporting lawyers with the efficient progression of matters from initial instructions through to resolution
n
n
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
n
The successful applicant will have:
n
n
- Previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or claims officer
n
- Personal injury, insurance or litigation experience, although this is preferred rather than essential
n
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
n
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
n
- Care and empathy when communicating with injured clients
n
- Strong attention to detail
n
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
n
- Confidence using technology and electronic file management systems
n
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative team
n
- Initiative, accountability and a willingness to learn
n
n
Current law students and applicants with qualifications in legal services, law or a related field are encouraged to apply.
