Senior Associate/Special Counsel - Employment Law - Gold Coast

Aitken Legal is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our thriving Employment Law firm. This is a full-time or part-time role based in our Gold Coast office in Robina - however, we will consider this role for the Sunshine Coast for the right candidate.

What you will be doing

Providing expert legal advice and strategic guidance to employers on the full spectrum of employment law matters, including employee entitlements; performance management; termination and dismissal; managing injured employees; discrimination, harassment and bullying; restructures and redundancies; workplace health and safety and more

Representing employers in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia and other Federal and State tribunals and courts on employment-related disputes and litigation

Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, enterprise agreements, workplace policies and other employment-related documentation

Undertaking workplace investigations and drafting reports

Working with a supportive and collaborative team

What we're looking for

5+ years of post-admission experience in employment law in Australia advising employers , ideally gained within a law firm

Comprehensive knowledge of Australian workplace relations and employment related legislation and awards

Proven track record of successfully advising and representing employers in employment-related disputes and litigation





Confidence and ability to provide sound advice to employers in telephone conferences and in-person meetings

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain English to non-legal audiences

Excellent drafting and negotiation skills

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

A genuine passion for employment law and for being a true specialist in this area of law
