Aboriginal Investment NT is a corporate Commonwealth entity, designed in partnership with Aboriginal Territorians. Their purpose is to work with Aboriginal Territorians to achieve economic, social and cultural impact through creative approaches to investments, beneficial payments and other financial assistance.
To support this, Aboriginal Investment NT manages initial grant funding and an investment corpus to support long-term economic, social and cultural outcomes for Aboriginal Territorians.
About the Role
As a senior member of the Grants team, the Grants Manager leads the strategic delivery and continuous improvement of Aboriginal Investment NT's grants program, driving efficient systems, ensuring compliance, and supporting Board and Executive decision-making through high-quality reporting and insights.
Key Duties
- Provide specialist, high-level advice on grants strategy, delivery, governance and compliance, aligned with legislative and regulatory obligations
- Lead the design, development and implementation of end-to-end grants management processes, systems and policies
- Drive system architecture and optimisation of SmartyGrants for accurate reporting, streamlined workflows and a high-quality applicant experience
- Manage operational planning, performance and capability development across the grants team, including direct line management of the Team Leader - Grants
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to align grants delivery with organisational strategy and stakeholder engagement objectives
- Prepare and present high-quality reports, insights and recommendations to the COO, Executive and Board
- Build and maintain strong, culturally informed relationships with Aboriginal organisations, Traditional Owners and other key stakeholders
Key Skills and Capabilities
- Demonstrated experience leading high-level grant design, delivery and oversight within a complex organisational setting
- Proven ability to develop and implement policies, processes and systems for efficient, compliant and impactful grants management
- Experience managing and configuring grants management platforms (preferably SmartyGrants), including reporting and workflow optimisation
- Strong leadership capability, with experience managing teams, building capability and driving performance
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and briefings for executive and governance audiences
- Demonstrated cultural capability and experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities
- Strong understanding of risk management, governance and accountability in relation to public or philanthropic funding
