The Role
n
As our Brisbane project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to support the successful delivery of several station projects we are building across the city.
n
This is an excellent chance for a commercially astute professional to play a key role in project financial performance while working alongside experienced project and commercial teams on these high-profile rail infrastructure jobs.
n
Key responsibilities will include but are not to limited to;
n
n
- Develop and maintain project budgets in coordination with project managers and finance teams. Monitor budget variances and implement corrective actions as necessary.
n
- Work closely with project managers to evaluate change requests and update budgets accordingly.
n
- Track and analyse project costs, including expenditures, budgets, and forecasts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
n
- Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts, highlighting potential risks and opportunities.
n
- Review contracts and agreements to ensure adherence to financial terms and conditions.
n
- Develop risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams.
n
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to project cost management.
n
- Identify opportunities to enhance cost control processes and tools.
n
- Liaise with project stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, contractors, and clients, to provide regular updates on project financial performance and address any cost-related queries or concerns.

Experience/Qualifications
n
n
- Bachelors degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
n
- Proven experience in cost control or financial management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector.
n
- Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
n
- Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
n
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software applications.
n
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and cost management practices.
n
- Ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
n
- Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.
