Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater, offering a total solution approach to its customers. We are looking for a number of Fitter & Turners to join our team based at in Somerton, Victoria. This is a full-time role that will be working as part of our Maintenance team reporting to the Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance). The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Maintaining Plant and Machinery as directed by the Leading Hand/ Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in regard to Preventative maintenance policy's
n
- Repairing Plant and Machinery as directed
n
- Installing and decommissioning of Plant and equipment as directed
n
- Ensure MEX is updated accordingly with WO's, PM's, spare parts used, etc
n
- Complete and sign off required documentation for HSE and legal requirements
n
- Responsible for housekeeping in the works area.
n
- Identify and report any hazardous condition or unsafe practice and any opportunities for improvement
n

The successful candidate will have:

n

n
- Trade Qualified Fitter/Machinist
n




- Trade Certificate III – Engineering Mechanical Trade or equivalent qualifications
n
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/plans
n
- Proven experience flux core welding
n
- Ability to weld common metals (Mild Steel)
n
- Machining using: Lathes, Mills, Drills
n
- Ability to read & Understand Engineering Drawings
n
- Troubleshooting on plant and machinery
n
- Good English – verbal and written communication skills
n
- Ability to work independently and remain motivated
n
- Energic and 'can-do' approach
n
- Be willing to undertake a weld qualification testing and layout/mark-up testing as applicable
n

Rate of pay:

n

n
- The successful candidate will commence at an hourly base rate of $37.82 per hour.
n

n

Other standard entitlements include:

- Overtime
n
- Superannuation – at SGC rate
n
- Annual Leave – 4 weeks per year
n
