Job Description
Design the electrical systems behind exceptional off-road caravans
n Bruder RV is seeking an experienced Off-Grid Electrical Systems Designer & Technician to join our Brisbane manufacturing team.
n
This is a specialised position combining advanced electrical design and documentation with hands-on installation, testing and troubleshooting. You will play a key role in developing reliable, high-quality low-voltage electrical systems for our current caravan range, bespoke builds and future models.
n
The position is ideal for an experienced automotive electrician, electrical technician or low-voltage systems specialist who enjoys both designing systems and bringing those designs to life in the workshop.
n
About the role
n
You will take ownership of the design, documentation, installation and testing of mobile electrical systems, with a strong focus on detailed wiring harness diagrams, schematics and system layouts.
n
Working closely with our design, engineering, production and supplier teams, you will help ensure our systems are safe, practical, manufacturable and suited to demanding off-road environments.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Design and document 12V and 48V low-voltage electrical systems.
n
- Create detailed wiring harness diagrams, schematics and power distribution layouts.
n
- Design systems incorporating Garmin, Victron and compatible technologies.
n
- Develop layouts for solar, lithium battery systems, battery management systems, inverters, lighting, control panels, appliances and power outlets.
n
- Develop electrical designs for existing caravan platforms, bespoke builds and future models.
n
- Maintain accurate design files, bills of materials,
installation instructions and as-built drawings.
n
- Install, assemble and integrate electrical systems in accordance with approved designs.
n
- Read, interpret and improve existing schematics and wiring diagrams.
n
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in existing systems.
n
- Inspect and test completed installations for safety, functionality and performance.
n
- Research and assess new electrical components and technologies.
n
- Support general caravan fit-out and production activities when required.
n
- Work collaboratively with external suppliers, engineers, designers and production employees.
n
- Ensure all work complies with workplace safety requirements, relevant Australian standards and recreational vehicle requirements.

About you
n
You will be technically capable, highly organised and comfortable taking responsibility for complex electrical design and troubleshooting work.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
- Trade qualifications in automotive electrical, electrical or a related technical field.
n
- Strong experience with low-voltage DC systems, including 12V, 24V or 48V systems.
n
- Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems and producing detailed schematics or wiring diagrams.
n
- Experience with solar systems, lithium batteries, battery management systems and inverters.
n
- Experience using electrical drafting, CAD or schematic design software.
n
- Strong installation, testing, fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
n
- Confidence using multimeters, electrical testing equipment, hand tools and power tools.
n
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams.
n
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
n
- Good communication, problem-solving and time-management skills.
n
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a broader production team.
n
n
Experience within the caravan, recreational vehicle, marine, automotive, specialist vehicle or advanced manufacturing industries will be highly regarded.
n
Experience with Garmin, Victron or similar integrated power and control systems would be advantageous.
