Civil Construction Traineeship – RCM & BCM | Rockhampton

Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships specialise in the employment of Apprentices and Trainees with our clients and the design and delivery of nationally accredited training.

Programmed has an exciting opportunity in the Rockhampton region for a Civil Construction Traineeship, specialising in Road Construction and Maintenance.
n
Throughout your traineeship, you will be hosted by RoadTek, a leading civil construction organisation that provides transport infrastructure solutions across Queensland as a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). RoadTek is committed to developing its people through quality training, ongoing support, and a collaborative team environment.
n
As a Civil Construction Trainee, you'll be working outdoors in a hands‐on role that may involve hot, dusty, and physically demanding conditions. The position operates on a rotating roster which may include both day and night shifts.
n
Civil construction is a physically active industry, so applicants must be confident they can meet the physical requirements of the role. An excellent above-award pay rate is on offer, with overtime and penalty rates available where applicable.

- Develop skills in road construction and road infrastructure rehabilitation

- Plan and organise work activities

- Carry out measurements and calculations

- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications

- Safely use a range of hand and power tools
n
- Apply compliant and efficient construction methods
n
- Follow Workplace Health and Safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment
n
- Ongoing coaching and support while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction – Structures or Road Construction Maintenance (RII30920)

Mandatory requirements:
n
n
- Current Construction White Card (can be completed online prior to commencement)
n
- Current Driver Licence and reliable transport
n
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including day and night shifts
n
- Ability to work away on a 10 days on, 4 days off roster
n
- Strong commitment to completing the Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30920)
n
- Self‐motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative
n
n
Desired skills and experience:
n
n
- Genuine interest in hands‐on work and a career in civil construction
n
- Previous labouring or construction experience is advantageous but not essential
n
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
n
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills with a minimum Year 10 education
n
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
n
- Commitment to completing both the practical and theory components of the qualification
n
- Able to work away from home when required (travel and accommodation provided)
n

Prior to commencing employment, successful applicants will be required to complete a pre‐employment medical assessment, including a drug and alcohol screen.
