Job Description

Dairy Flat Farm is looking for a Head Market Gardener to work at our regenerative farm just outside Daylesford.

You must have a solid agricultural background and be familiar with farm machinery and it's upkeep. You should have experience in a Market Garden setting and be able to propagate and plant adhering to a seasonal calendar. The candidate should also be well versed in succession planting in order to ensure a constant supply of vegetables for our Restaurant and Cafe.

A minimum of 2-3 years of market garden experience is required.

n

A manual drivers license is required and experience with a tractor and machinery is essential.

n

You will be responsible for the farm team and duties such as general property maintenance, vineyard maintenance and for our orchard.

What You'll Do:

n

Assist with all aspects of vegetable production: seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing

n

Manage beds using no-till or low-till techniques

n

Apply compost, cover crops, and other regenerative practices to build soil fertility

n

Operate small farm tools and equipment

n

Support irrigation, pest management, and post-harvest processes

n

Contribute to overall farm maintenance and daily operations

n

Some knowledge of Organics or Biodynamics would also be highly regarded.
