About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Female Disability Support Worker to provide one‐on‐one support to a male participant living with dementia.
n
This role involves delivering person‐centred support that promotes the participant's independence, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life. You will provide consistent, responsive care while building a trusting and supportive relationship with the participant and their support network.
n
You will support the participant with daily living activities, community access, emotional wellbeing, and maintaining routines that enhance their comfort and quality of life. A calm, patient, and person‐centred approach is essential.
n
This position is identified as a female‐only role in accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) due to the participant's assessed support needs and preferences.

This is a hands‐on, rewarding, and meaningful opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of people living with dementia and complex support needs.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide person‐centred support with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and attending appointments.
n
- Assist participants to access their community, maintain social connections, and engage in recreational activities.
n
- Safely transport participants to appointments, programs, community activities, and outings.
n
- Promote participants' emotional wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
n
- Complete shift notes, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
n
- Maintain compliance with NDIS requirements, organisational policies, procedures, and mandatory training.
n
- Build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with participants and their support networks.
n
- Respond to changes in behaviour with empathy, professionalism, and a calm, supportive approach.
n
- Support individuals living with dementia and/or cognitive impairments with confidence, patience, and understanding.
n
- Remain attentive, proactive, and responsive throughout active night shifts when required.
n

About You
n
You will be:
n
n
- Calm, patient, and reassuring in your approach.
n
- Emotionally mature and confident supporting people living with dementia.
n
- Experienced in managing changing behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
n
- Reliable, observant, and able to remain alert during active overnight shifts.
n
- Committed to providing consistent, high-quality support and building meaningful relationships with participants.
n
n
Previous experience supporting people living with dementia or cognitive impairments is highly regarded.
n
Must‐Haves
n
n
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
n
- Employee Working With Children Check
n
- Willingness to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- Smartphone
n
n
Preferable Skills
n
(Not essential — but great to have!)
n
n
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, mental health needs, or complex behaviours of concern
n
- Experience using hoists and other mobility and transfer aids
n
- Availability to work weekends, sleepovers, and active night shifts
n
