Job Description
Sahara Services is an NDIS-registered provider offering Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Access, and Respite services to individuals with disabilities. As we expand our accommodation services, we are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organised House Support Lead to guide both staff and participants toward exceptional care outcomes. This hybrid role requires 60% hands-on participant support and 40% administrative leadership, making it ideal for someone with both frontline experience and the ability to manage daily operations.

Role Summary
n
The House Support Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a designated SIL property. This includes ensuring high-quality support is delivered to residents, maintaining compliance standards, supervising staff, managing stakeholder communication, and driving a positive home workplace
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Participant & Staff Engagement (60%)
n
n
- Provide direct support to participants (ADLs, medication, community access, behavioral support)
n
- Step in during high-risk behaviors, escalation points, or medical situations
n
- Promote participant independence, choice, and dignity
n
- Ensure daily routines, appointments, and activities are fulfilled
n
- Support team morale and on-the-floor coaching/mentorship
n
n
Administrative & Operational Oversight (40%)
n
n
- Prepare and maintain participant documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, risk assessments, and medication charts
n
- Oversee staff schedules, timesheets, and leave requests
n
- Liaise with the workforce team for shift coverage, staff allocation, and training compliance
n
- Conduct house audits, fire safety checks, fridge temperature logs,
and medication audits
n
- Lead monthly team meetings and elevate critical updates
n
n
Compliance Responsibilities
n
n
- Ensure house operations meet NDIS Practice Standards and SIL compliance
n
- Maintain documentation as per SCHADS Award, NDIS guidelines, and internal policies
n
- Support with BSP implementation, restrictive practices, and incident reporting
n
- Track and ensure staff training is up to date (e.g., manual handling, medication, infection control)
n
- Build and maintain strong relationships with: Participants, their families, Support coordinators and behaviour support practitioners
n
- Internal management and operational teams
n
- Attend case conferences or family meetings and provide timely updates
n
- Handle complaints or concerns with empathy and a solution-focused approach
n
- Ensure the house is clean, safe, and welcoming
n
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and WHS checks with the landlord or agency
n
- Manage inventory (medication, PPE, groceries, household supplies)
n
- Facilitate lifestyle activities and social outings in collaboration with the community team
n
n
What You'll Bring
n
n
- Cert III or IV in Disability, Community Services or equivalent (Diploma preferred)
n
- Management or Supervisory Experience working in SIL or residential disability care
n
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
n
- Proficient with digital documentation, email, and Microsoft/Google systems
n
- Calm under pressure with leadership qualities and a proactive mindset
n
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
n
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
n
- Proven experience leading teams or acting as a senior support worker
