An established engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Mining & Minerals team in Brisbane.

The Opportunity
n
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on complex materials handling systems while partnering with multidisciplinary teams across mining, minerals processing, infrastructure, ports, and heavy industry projects.
n
You will be recognised as a subject matter expert in bulk solids handling and material flow behaviour, supporting clients with technically challenging projects involving the transportation, storage, processing, and handling of bulk commodities.
n

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the mechanical design and delivery of bulk materials handling systems for mining and minerals projects.
n
- Provide technical expertise in material flow analysis and bulk solids behaviour.
n
- Undertake and review Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) studies for complex material handling applications.
n
- Deliver engineering assessments relating to:n n
- Conveying Systems
n
- Transfer Chutes
n
- Stockyards
n
- Crushers
n
- Screens
n
- Feeders
n
- Bins and Hoppers
n
- Reclaim Systems
n
- Ship Loading and Port Infrastructure
n

- Develop innovative solutions to improve operational performance, reliability, and maintainability.
n
- Engage directly with mining companies, EPCM contractors, and project stakeholders.
n
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
n
- Support business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management activities.
n
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives within the Mining & Minerals division.
n

Required Experience
n
n
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
n
- Significant experience within the mining, minerals processing, resources, or heavy industrial sectors.
n
- Proven expertise in Bulk Materials Handling (BMH) design and engineering.
n
- Strong understanding of bulk solids behaviour and material flow characteristics.
n
- Hands-on experience with Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) software and methodologies.
