About the role

n

We are seeking a Truck Driver HR to join our team at Al Sahel Metal Recyclers in Carrum Downs, VIC on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal to our operations, combining the responsibilities of a qualified truck driver with human resources support functions. You will play a vital part in ensuring our fleet operates efficiently whilst also contributing to the development and well-being of our driver team. This position reports directly to our Operations Manager and is integral to maintaining both our transport logistics and staff engagement standards.

Key responsibilities

n

Operate heavy vehicles safely and professionally to transport metal recycling materials to and from customer sites and processing facilities

n

Conduct pre- and post-journey vehicle checks to ensure compliance with safety standards and roadworthiness requirements

n

Assist with the recruitment, induction, and onboarding of new truck drivers to the organisation

n

Support HR administrative tasks including scheduling, payroll coordination, and driver documentation management

n

Provide mentoring and guidance to junior drivers, promoting safe driving practices and company standards

n

Liaise between the driver team and management to communicate workplace policies, updates, and concerns

n

Maintain professional communication with clients and ensure excellent customer service during deliveries

n

Assist in monitoring driver compliance with health and safety regulations, training requirements,



and vehicle safety protocols

n

Support the development and delivery of driver training programmes and safety briefings

n

What we're looking for

n

Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence with a clean driving record

n

Minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a professional truck driver in the transport industry

n

Demonstrated knowledge of road safety regulations and best practice driving standards

n

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse team members

n

Competence in basic HR administrative tasks, including documentation, scheduling, and record-keeping

n

Ability to multitask and manage both operational driving duties and HR support responsibilities

n

A commitment to safety culture and willingness to promote safe working practices across the driver team

n

Physical fitness and ability to undertake the manual handling aspects of metal recycling transport

n

Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude towards work

n

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is desirable

n

Previous experience in scrap metal industry is preferred
