About the role
n
Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking an Advanced Clinical Coder to work within our Clinical Coding Service. This position is open to being employed on a casual, part-time or full-time basis. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope's Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater's commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.

- Accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements
n
- Code inpatient episodesin accordance withAustralian Coding Standards
n
- Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and the impact on potential funding
n
- Identification of unclear or ambiguous documentation andsubsequentinitiation of coding queries
n
- Participate in coding audit,qualityand education to expand coding skills
n
- Apply the principles of confidentiality,privacyand security with the medical environment
n

About you
n
You will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent). You will also have:
n
n
- Minimum five years experience working as a Clinical Coder
n
- Up to date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
n
- Experience using 3MCodefinder
n
- Strong organisation skills in planning,prioritisingand managing workloads
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
n
- Ability to work within a team workplace
n
- Understanding of private sector funding models (Desirable)
n
- Experience usingWebPAS,iPM, and scanned medical records (Desirable)
n
