For more than 30 years, King Truss has supplied quality frames and trusses to builders across Southeast and Central Queensland, from our base at Bells Creek, near Caloundra. As we grow, we need a Financial Controller who can bring discipline, clarity and commercial insight to how we run the business.

About the role

n

Reporting to the General Manager and Directors, you will own the financial position of King Truss – reporting it accurately and on time, actively protecting cash, stock, margin and trade credit, and giving the owners clear, decision-ready advice. You will lead a small accounts team and partner with department managers to build budgets they own and hit.

What you'll be doing

n

n
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts – P&L;, balance sheet and cashflow
n
- Own statutory and tax compliance – BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, QLD payroll tax and FBT – lodged and paid on time, every time
n
- Build the annual budget with department leaders, reforecast quarterly, and analyse gross margin by product category and department
n
- Manage cashflow, working capital and banking relationships
n
- Oversee inventory valuation, stocktake integrity,



trade credit terms, builder and trade account credit risk.

- Produce decision-ready board reporting that includes forward-looking recommendations
n
- Maintain robust internal controls and a financial risk register, and drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes
n
- Lead, coach and manage the accounts team, and lift financial literacy across the wider business

What you'll bring

n

n
- Degree-qualified accountant with CA or CPA membership and evidence of ongoing professional development
n
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar, with solid budgeting, forecasting and board-level reporting
n
- Sound working knowledge of Australian tax and reporting obligations
n
- Demonstrated experience managing cash, working capital, inventory valuation and trade debtor credit risk in a fast-moving business
n
- Strong ERP and advanced Excel, Power BI or similar skills, and the ability to build reporting that people trust and use
n
- The interpersonal skill to build genuine relationships across the business – and the backbone to hold managers accountable, constructively and consistently
n
- Experience in timber, hardware, building supplies or a related trade industry will be well regarded, but is not essential for the right person
n
