Austek Roads (ACT) are seeking an experienced Asphalt Supervisor to join our team based in Hume, ACT.

The Asphalt Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a paving crew. The primary focus is to ensure asphalt laying operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a "hands-on" leader who can coordinate plant, material deliveries, and personnel to meet daily production targets while maintaining strict adherence to technical specifications.

- Supervise and direct daily activities of the paving crew
n
- Coordinate the daily arrival of asphalt trucks and logistics
n
- Conduct morning "Toolbox Talks" and Pre-Start meetings
n
- Monitor crew performance, fatigue, and adherence to the schedule.
n

Technical Quality Control
n
n
- Oversee the set-up of the paver and ensure correct depths, levels, and crossfalls are achieved as per the project plan.
n
- Manage temperatures of the asphalt mix upon arrival and during compaction.
n
- Ensure compaction patterns are followed by roller operators to meet density requirements (TfNSW/Roads ACT specs).
n
- Perform direct site measurements and calculate tonnage requirements for upcoming shifts.
n

Safety & Environmental Compliance
n

- Ensure all site works comply with the Site Specific Safety Plan and WHS legislation.
n
- Manage traffic control interfaces to ensure a protected work zone for the crew and the public.
n
- Implement silica dust controls and manage bitumen fume exposure protocols.
n
- Ensure all plant machinery are checked daily and are in safe working order.
n

Reporting & Administration
n
n
- Prepare and submit daily dockets, production sheets, and accurate timesheets for the crew.
n
- Manage site diaries and record any delays for variation claims.
n
- Directly manage "Inclement Weather" procedures.
n
n
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
n
n
- This is a physically demanding role in high-temperature environments (asphalt heat and Canberra summer/winter).
n
- Ability to work frequent night shifts and weekends as per project demands.
n
- Must be able to stand, walk, and operate machinery for the duration of an 8.5-hour shift.
