About the Project
n
McConnell Dowell in joint venture with John Holland is delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland for Genex Power — a world-first renewable energy development transforming a former gold mine into a pumped hydro energy storage facility.
n
Once complete, Kidston will provide up to 250MW of rapid-response renewable energy to the National Electricity Market, generating enough power for more than 100,000 homes during peak demand periods. The project will create hundreds of jobs and play a significant role in Australia's transition to a sustainable energy future.

About the Role
n
As Permit Manager, you will be the key link between construction, commissioning and external supply authorities, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient permit-to-work, isolation and energisation processes across the project.
n
Reporting to the Integration Manager, you'll work closely with commissioning teams, electrical supervisors, construction leaders and supply authorities including Ergon Energy and Powerlink. This is a high-profile leadership opportunity where you'll play a critical role in delivering major energisation milestones on one of Australia's most innovative energy projects.

This role is offered on a 2:1 roster based at the Kidston project site.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Manage the project's Permit-to-Work and isolation systems.
n
- Coordinate construction-to-commissioning handovers and energisation activities.
n
- Interface with supply authorities for permits, inspections and network connections.
n
- Lead electrical isolation, LOTO and protected energisation processes.
n
- Coach project teams on permit compliance and safety requirements.
n

What Will You Bring?
n
n
- Queensland Electrical Worker License (Electrical Mechanic) - mandatory.
n
- Extensive experience managing PTW systems on major infrastructure, industrial or energy projects.
n
- Strong HV electrical isolation, commissioning and energisation experience.
n
- Proven ability to work with supply authorities and multiple project stakeholders.
n
n
Nice to have: High Voltage Switching certification and experience on renewable energy, utilities or substation projects.
n
