About the Role

n

- We are looking for native Australian English speakers to join our audio data collection project as Freelance Audio Contributors. In this role, you will wear multiple hats: recording conversational audio, transcribing dialogue, and reviewing audio submitted by other contributors. This is a flexible, remote, project-based engagement — ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and passionate about language.

Key Responsibilities

1. Audio Recording

n

n
- Record natural, two-speaker conversations following pre-written conversation prompts and scripts.
n
- Keep dialogue natural and spontaneous, even when guided by a script.
n
- Ensure recordings meet technical specs: minimum 16kHz sample rate, clear audio, minimal background noise.
n
- Each file must be between 10 seconds and 1 minute in length.
n
- Use standard headphones and microphone (studio setup is a plus but not required).
n

2. Transcription

n

n
- Accurately transcribe recorded audio dialogues into written text.
n
- Capture speaker turns, natural speech patterns, and relevant verbal cues.
n
- Follow Perle's transcription style guide for formatting and notation.
n

3. Audio Review & Quality Assurance

n

n




- Listen to and evaluate audio recordings submitted by other contributors.
n
- Assess recordings for naturalness, audio clarity, accent compliance, and content guidelines.
n
- Flag and report files that do not meet project specifications.
n

Requirements

n

n
- Native Australian English speaker with a standard, non-heavily accented Australian accent.
n
- Access to a quiet recording workplace and a reliable headset / microphone.
n
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written guidelines.
n
- Ability to work independently and meet batch delivery deadlines.
n
- Basic computer literacy (file management, audio uploads, spreadsheet tools).
n
- Prior experience in transcription, voice work, or data annotation is a plus — but not required.
n

- All audio data must be original and legally sourced.
n
- Contributors must comply with applicable privacy regulations (Australian Privacy Act 1988 and applicable state laws).
n
- Submitted data must not include any personally identifiable information (PII) of third parties without explicit consent.
n
- Perle retains all intellectual property rights to collected data and associated deliverables.
n
