The Opportunity

n

We are seeking a talented Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will lead a payroll team and ensure the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll services for employees across the region. This is a pivotal leadership role that combines payroll operations, compliance management, stakeholder engagement, system administration, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Lead end-to-end payroll delivery across Australia and New Zealand.
n
- Manage and support offshore payroll team members, ensuring accuracy and operational excellence.
n
- Review and approve payroll processing, including current starters, terminations, leave, allowances, and adjustments.
n
- Maintain payroll calendars, procedures, and operational documentation.
n
- Drive payroll process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
n

Compliance & Risk Management

n

n
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation including payroll tax, superannuation,



Single Touch Payroll (STP), WorkCover, and employment obligations.
n
- Oversee New Zealand payroll compliance including PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC levies, and Holidays Act requirements.
n
- Manage complex termination calculations, redundancy payments, and legislative changes.
n
- Support audit activities and maintain strong payroll governance frameworks.

Systems & Process Improvement

n

n
- Act as the payroll systems subject matter expert for the payroll system.
n
- Maintain payroll data integrity across payroll and HR systems.
n
- Identify automation opportunities and process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

n

n
- Partner closely with Finance, HR, payroll providers, and business leaders.
n
- Deliver payroll reporting, analysis, forecasting support, and headcount reconciliation.
n
- Provide expert advice on payroll matters, remuneration, onboarding, terminations, and award interpretation.
n
- Manage escalations and ensure a high standard of customer service across the business.

About You

- You are an experienced payroll professional with a strong leadership background and deep knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation.



You enjoy partnering with stakeholders, improving processes, and ensuring high standards of compliance and accuracy.

To be successful, you will bring:

n

n
- Extensive experience managing end‐to‐end payroll functions.
n
- Experience leading payroll teams in a senior or management capacity.
n
- Strong knowledge of Fair Work legislation, payroll tax, superannuation, STP, and employment obligations.
n
- Experience interpreting Modern Awards and enterprise agreements.
n
- Exposure to New Zealand payroll legislation including PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, and Holidays Act requirements.
n
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‐solving skills.
n
- A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion when handling confidential information.
n

Highly Regarded

n

n
- Experience managing payroll teams.
n
- Payroll qualifications or Australian Payroll Association accreditation.
n
- Experience with ADP Payforce/Payline, MYOB, iPayroll, Smartly, and/or Workday.
n
- Experience managing payroll systems.
