Job Description
Casual Disability Support Worker

Disability Axis Services is seeking a values-driven and reliable Casual Disability Support Worker to join our growing team.
n
We are a person-centred, Developmental Educator-led organisation. Our approach goes beyond simply completing tasks for people. We work alongside participants to create meaningful capacity-building opportunities that increase independence, confidence, choice and participation in everyday life.
n
About the role
n
You will provide individualised support to participants in their homes and communities. Depending on the participant's goals, shifts may involve:
n
n
- Supporting community access and social participation
n
- Building daily living skills, including cooking, shopping, cleaning and personal organisation
n
- Using prompting, modelling and task-analysis strategies to develop independence
n
- Supporting participants to make choices and take an active role in their own lives
n
- Assisting with appointments, activities and transport
n
- Following individual support plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
n
- Completing explicit, professional progress notes and incident reports
n
- Working collaboratively with families, Developmental Educators and other professionals
n
- Providing personal care where required
n
n
This role requires someone who understands that effective support is not about "doing everything for" a person. It is about providing the right level of support, encouragement and opportunity so each participant can build skills and work towards their goals.

Essential availability
n
Applicants must be regularly available to work weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays.
n
Additional weekday, evening and public holiday availability will be highly regarded. Casual hours will vary according to participant needs.
n
Essential requirements
n
n
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or a related qualification, or relevant experience
n
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
n
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
n
- Current Australian driver's licence
n
- Reliable, registered and insured vehicle
n
- Right to work in Australia
n
- Ability to use a mobile phone or electronic system for progress notes and workplace communication
n
n
Experience supporting people with autism, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, complex communication needs or behaviours of concern will be highly regarded.
n
