Yoorana is a specialist domestic and family violence service supporting women and children across the Fraser Coast. For over 45 years, we have provided safe accommodation, advocacy, case management and recovery-focused support to families escaping domestic and family violence.

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated and organised Accommodation & Property Support Worker to join our dedicated team.

n

This diverse and rewarding role combines direct support for women and children with responsibility for maintaining secure, welcoming and well-presented accommodation across Yoorana's refuge and associated properties. Working within a trauma-informed, feminist and strengths-based practice framework, you will provide practical assistance to residents while coordinating property inspections, maintenance and accommodation readiness. The Accommodation Support & Property Officer plays a vital role in providing safe, trauma-informed accommodation and practical support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will:

n

n
- Provide practical and emotional support to women and children residing in crisis accommodation.
n
- Maintain safe, welcoming and trauma-informed accommodation environments.
n
- Conduct routine property inspections and complete inspection reports.
n




- Coordinate maintenance requests with QBuild and liaise with contractors and tradespeople.
n
- Assist with client intake, exits and accommodation transitions.
n
- Identify and report property, safety and wellbeing concerns.
n
- Maintain accurate records, documentation and compliance requirements.
n
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team committed to achieving positive outcomes for women and children.

About You

n

You are someone who:

n

n
- Is passionate about supporting women and children affected by domestic and family violence.
n
- Has experience working within community services, homelessness, housing or domestic and family violence.
n
- Demonstrates empathy, professionalism and sound judgement in challenging situations.
n
- Is highly organised with excellent communication and documentation skills.
n
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
n
- Has confidence coordinating property maintenance and engaging with contractors where required.
n

The Refuge Accommodation Support Worker will demonstrate success by:

- Safe and welcoming accommodation environments are consistently maintained.

- Property inspections are completed within required time frames.
n
- Maintenance requests are reported promptly and followed through to completion.
n
- Accurate inspection reports and documentation are maintained.
n
- Women and children receive timely, respectful and trauma-informed practical support.
n
- Child safe practices are consistently demonstrated.
n
- High standards of confidentiality, professionalism and cultural safety are maintained.
n
- Legislative, funding and organisational compliance requirements are met.
n
- Positive working relationships are maintained with contractors, QBuild, community partners and colleagues.

Essential Requirements

n

n
- Certificate III in Community Services or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
n
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
n
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain.
n
- National Criminal History Check.
n
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
n
