Job Description
Laboratory Tester – Timber Testing Centre

Join Timber Testing Centre, a NATA-accredited laboratory specialising in the physical and mechanical testing of timber products.
n
Timber Testing Centre is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Tester to join our team. Our laboratory performs physical and mechanical testing of timber to assess product performance and quality with relevant industry standards.
n
This role involves preparing timber samples, conducting laboratory tests, operating specialised equipment, accurately recording results, and supporting the delivery of high-quality testing services to our clients.
n
As a NATA-accredited timber testing laboratory, Timber Testing Centre is committed to providing accurate, reliable, and technically sound testing outcomes. Laboratory experience is preferred; however, training will be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and a commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Prepare timber specimens for physical and mechanical testing
n
- Conduct tests to assess timber properties and performance characteristics
n
- Operate laboratory testing equipment safely and accurately
n
- Perform hands‐on testing activities including sample handling, measurements, and equipment setup
n
- Record, and review test results with a high level of accuracy
n
- Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with quality requirements
n
- Assist with equipment checks, calibration, and routine laboratory activities
n
- Follow laboratory procedures, testing standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and NATA quality standards
n
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff and technical teams
n
n
About You
n
n
- Laboratory testing experience is preferred but not essential
n
- Interest in timber, materials testing, engineering, or quality control environments
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results
n
- Ability to follow technical procedures and work within a quality system
n
- Practical, hands‐on approach with good problem‐solving skills
n
- Good organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
n
- Willingness to learn specialised timber testing methods and procedures
n
- Experience in timber testing, construction materials testing, manufacturing, or laboratory environments will be highly regarded.
