Wineism is a wine bar with a small but thoughtful menu designed to pair perfectly with our curated wine list. We pride ourselves on delivering a relaxed yet professional experience, where every detail, from the way a dish is plated to how a glass is poured, matters. Our kitchen focuses on simple, seasonal ingredients prepared with care, ensuring each plate complements the wine in front of it.
We’re a small, tight-knit team that values collaboration, creativity, and genuine hospitality. There are no egos in our kitchen, just a shared commitment to quality, consistency, and making sure our guests feel welcomed and looked after. At Wineism, we work hard, enjoy what we do, and believe that great food and wine should be fun, approachable, and memorable.
About the Role
As a BOH/Kitchen Hand at Wineism, you’ll play a key role in delivering fresh, high-quality dishes that complement our wine-focused menu. Working closely with our Venue Chef, you’ll assist with preparation, plating, and maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen, all while upholding the highest food safety standards.
This hands-on role requires someone confident enough to run the kitchen solo during quieter shifts or when the chef is away. You’ll handle general kitchen operations, from cleaning and dishwashing to light cooking and service support, ensuring every plate meets our quality and presentation standards. We value creative input, and you’ll have opportunities to contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with our Venue Chef to prep, plate,
and present dishes to a high standard
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and ensure all equipment is in working order
- Stay on top of dishes and glassware throughout service
- Follow simple recipes and prepare ingredients accurately
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner
- Confidently run the kitchen solo during quieter services or when the Venue Chef is unavailable
- Set up, prep, and execute food service independently, with FOH support as required
- Monitor stock levels and communicate any shortages to the Venue Chef
Menu & Service Support:
- Provide input on menu updates and improvements
- Adapt dishes to suit dietary requirements where needed
- Check ingredient freshness and ensure proper storage and rotation
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- 1–2 years’ experience in a kitchen (or strong basic skills with a willingness to learn fast)
- Current food safety certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work weekends and solo kitchen shifts when required
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Calm, efficient, and positive under pressure
- A team player who’s also confident working independently
The Perks:
- 15 hours per week to start, with potential to increase
- A friendly, qualified team environment
If you’re ready to take ownership in the kitchen and be part of a team that values quality and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.
