About the Opportunity

n

HYPAR Residential Care is a values driven provider focused on building positive and supportive relationships with young people in the care of the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.

n

We're seeking youth workers in the Sunshine Coast region that will mentor and support our young people with high to complex needs and behaviours to have a stable, consistent and predictable home environment which is therapeutic and safe.

n

A day in the role of our Mentors includes, but is not limited to:

n

n
- You will be required to support service users with high levels of challenging behaviours, mental health issues, disabilities, or high medical needs.
n
- Must be willing to provide personal care and manual handling when required
n
- Training and/or experience with manual hoists highly regarded
n
- Planning, assisting and engaging in suitable activities with our young people
n
- Encourage our young people to make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services
n
- Engage in domestic duties such as house cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, budgeting, shopping etc.
n
- Complete daily case notes, administration tasks and incident reports
n
- Work collaboratively within the house team to help our young people achieve their personal goals
n

Experience with the following is highly regarded:

- Personal Care including incontinence and showering
n
- Use of eye gaze device, ProLoQuo-2-Go and basic sign
n
- Meal-Time Management
n

About You

n

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

n

n
- Emotional intelligence, initiative and flexibility to build strong relationships with our young people
n
- The ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with smart phones/computers
n
- The ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster - Some overnight active awake shifts are available as well
n
- Solid understanding of the child protection system and a therapeutic background (highly regarded)
n
